direction of photography

My favorite subject this year has been direction of photography, because it’s very entertaining and we learn one of the most important parts of the filmmaking. The teacher teaches us the theory, he gives us examples and then we have to put them into practice, so the class is very dynamic.

We learn from how to use the equipment, to how to express emotions only through the picture. The psychology of color, the importance of the lights and the shadows, the texture of the objects, etc.  Now I know that every little detail on the screen is telling us something, nothing can be random on the composition of the image. The way of see the movies has changed completely now that I know all this.

The best part is that all of this knowledge is applicable to our short films to other subjects, and we can use all of this tools on our favor when we want to express something. This also will help me a lot when I want to film my own movie in a future not so far, or to work in a project as director of photography.
